Numerical Simulation via CFD Methods of Nitrogen Flooding in Carbonate Fractured-Vuggy Reservoirs

A reservoir-scale numerical conceptual model was established according to the actual geological characteristics of a carbonate fractured-vuggy reservoir. Considering difference in density and viscosity fluids under reservoir conditions, CFD (computational fluid dynamic) porous medium applied simulate process nitrogen displacement after water flooding. The effects gas injection rate, mode, injector–producer location relation were studied. results show that flooding can yield additional oil recovery 7–15% Low-speed is beneficial obtaining higher recovery. High speed expand sweep area, but channeling occurs more easily. In gas–water mixed there disturbance faster low injector–high producer while high injector–low mode for increasing range. Nevertheless, increment closely related well pattern. After flooding, are still lot remaining distributed trap area cap bottom can’t sweep. establishment compensates deficiency physical simulation research, stating only limited parameters be simulated during experiments, provides theoretical bases
